Cameroon ProjectAfter years of collaboration, and extensive research and onsite exploration, Geovic's sites in Cameroon — first identified in 1994 — stand at the cusp of development at a critical time in the world’s need for cobalt. Meanwhile, China produces 48 percent of the global production and is aggressively trying to control the world’s cobalt supply, which is a threat to the United States. Washington has designated cobalt as a commodity vital to its economic and national security.

Since 1994, Geovic has invested more than $125 million to identify significant quantities of cobalt, gold, uranium, chromite, oil and gas, and other minerals around the world.
South Pacific ProjectNew Caledonia is a 250 mile long island in the South Pacific which is the third largest island after New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. The landmass, which rises to above 5,000 feet above sea level, is comprised of Eocene ultramafic intrusive rocks which host economic oxide nickel and cobalt ore bodies along with elevated chromite. The chromite prospects of interest to Geovic occur in unconsolidated coastal sand deposits, some very remote, where chromite has been separated from ultramafic host rock, concentrated and winnowed with other heavy minerals by river and wave action.
